If someone wished entrance it would do just as well, they would have to either blow the door or melt out its center, either of which would slow them down. Nakamura had been strategically placed between the Federation officer and the main entrance. Louis had chosen this office for its replicator and lack of windows not to mention the fact that its doors were reinforced, the resident of the domicile must be highly placed. He took a moment to grab a cup of 'coffee' from the replicator which turned out to be acceptable then took a seat in the comfy chair behind the desk and propped his feet up while he readjusted the phaser setting for heavy stun and wide dispersal. If enemies charged this room they would find 'Khoda Rhone' between them and Louis and him well prepared. They would then have to risk hitting him while firing on the Federation officer while he had no such compunctions. One shot from him would take out Nakamura and anyone else on that side of the room. With his temporary quarters thus fortified he relaxed a bit, the man had been tied by his wrists and ankles to the chair and was facing him after being thoroughly searched if he made any attempts to free himself they would be instantly noted. With the phaser on wide dispersal it of course cut down on the available number of shots as the required energy would eat hungrily into his reserves but if it came to that he didn't figure to have long term success anyway, it would take outside aide to extricate him. He had already vowed inwardly though that should it come down to that 'Khoda Rhone' would not survive the episode. He watched the man stir as the stun affects of the phaser began to wear off and he couldn't help needling the miscreant a bit. "Well Nakamura now that I've made us cozy till we're extricated I admit to a bit of morbid curiosity, just how many of your former 'friends' did you roust out of their homes like criminals and execute?" Nakamura didn't answer at first, his eyes though were fiery as he fixed them on Remey but kept his jaws clenched. "It must have been quite a charge for an underachiever like you to rise through the Irlixian ranks to become supreme dictator." Louis said conversationally. "With no one alive to threaten you the sky was the limit. a whole world available for you to toy with and the population of a continent to betray to their enemies. I'd imagine it must have been a near orgasmic experience." He gave the man a feral grin. "And your old comrades in arms just cockroaches in your path to be stepped on." Nakamura clenched his fists as his blazing eyes flinched from the officer for an instant. "And Commander Rubio, how did she die? Did you kill her first to remove that obstacle from your path?" " You son of a *****!" Nakamura spat, locking eyes with Louis again. "I loved her! I would never have done anything to her!" "Oh really?" Louis grinned as his baiting bore fruit. "You trampled on her values, raped her ideals. You murdered her friends and comrades and polluted her memory with the blood of the Medea's crew. You turned your back on her orders and scorned her pleas. You stopped a world from immolating itself by adulterating its chosen path, you took away their choice of destruction or progress by introducing new technology and continued the warfare with more destructive weaponry. You gave them space without giving them the time to unite. You frakked on everything she believed in! You grew into a monster she would never have recognized. Is this how you honor her memory?" Nakamura screamed in rage as he struggled against his bonds. "You ****ing bastard! I'll kill you!" "Like you killed them?" Louis face reddened as his own ire rose. The phaser lay on the desk in front of him, if he had not been under orders to keep the man here which was understood to maintain his well being it would have been a temptation to burn him down. It would have been soooo easy to stoop to his level, to unleash the barbarian in every man that thirsted for a violent answer to uncontrolled, insane violence. "Yes! And the captain of the Borhs! You're no better than any of them, you have no understanding of the sacrifices I made to bring this fragmented, terror stricken society to the height of development which it enjoys today. You are a Neanderthal, a brainless baboon who sees nothing more than the cage which your orders have locked you into. You have no spine, no vision! I did what needed to be done, when it needed to be done! I formed a society greater than the sum of its parts. I am the visionary, the leader these people needed and you are only another fleet harlot!" Louis stood to his feet, his phaser in trembling hands as his narrowed eyes fixed on the ranting man's face. ~The captain of the Borhs dead? Killed by this monster! He deserves to die, he pollutes the very air of this world by drawing breath!~ "You don't have the guts to do it." Nakamura taunted. "You don't have the cojones to pull that trigger!" Time slowed as Louis' blazing eyes locked with those of the mad dictator, his rage rising to a crescendo. He teetered on the apex, his finger trembling above the firing stud as the man continued. "Do it, do it! Do you have the capacity to be more than a fleet robot? Can you make a decision outside of your orders? Can you rise up to be a man?" The moment hung in time for a drawn out heartbeat before Louis forced his finger away from the triggering mechanism and lowered the phaser to his side. "No, I won't stoop to your level. Your vision is obscured by your own twisted values. You see up as down and down as up. I won't, I can't become like you because to do so I would have to lose my own humanity." (Reply: None) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, ACOPS – Ensign Smith - Day 8, 2007) Robert focused totally in gaining access to the Irlixian computer. It was not exactly as easy as he had expected but it was not impossible if you knew how to do it. In saying that he was stuck with a password that if he got wrong would reset every thing that he had just done. He felt Nunez behind him and was about to ask her to stop looking over his shoulder when she spoke. "I wonder if the old saying about passwords hold true across species lines?" she inquired. He paused for a second and looked round at her. “What old saying?” "the old axiom about the most commonly used passwords." Robert shrugged. “But that would be just dumb wouldn’t it?” "Let's do a quickly little experiment shall we?" "Type this in." ~Well why not~ He took the PADD from and entered the password. He watched it surprise and the password was accepted and the files opened. ~Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle~ "Ha I knew it!" she responded with a smile on her lips. Robert looked back at her. “What did I just enter?” "What you just entered into the system was the Irlixian words for I am God." “Ow please but that it just…" Robert shook his head in amazement. “Who ever put that password in really has a few grey cells missing.” "Seems that the old axiom DOES apply after all." Robert smiled. “Lucky for use it really does.” Robert began searching the files for the information they needed as he passed the data to Nunez. ~Come on lets find them~ He scanned file after file before he found the one he wanted. “Got them.” He transferred the coordinates to Nunez PADD. “I’ll try and down load as much as possible before we go.” He turned back to the console as Nunez spoke to others. He began with a blanket copy as he did not have much time to be picky with what he copied. ~Anything is better then nothing~ "Aye sir. Nunez out." "Good work Robert, now let's get out of here before something bad happens." Robert grinned back as he packed up his kit. “Bad Happens. Why do you think I wanted to work with the ex-Jarhead. I’m not stupid as stupid as I look.” ~Better then looking stupider then I look~ Marta and Robert immediately closed up shop, quickly tidying up any signs that they had been here and then left the office to link up with the rest of the infiltration team. They'd found what was needed and now they were going to make certain that Rosenbauer and his team had all the help that they needed to escape with the prisoners. (Reply any) (Posted by Robbie) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Governmental office, ACSO Louis Remey 2009.5) Louis had still not taken his seat as he faced the older man, his whole being still vibrating from the rage that was coursing through his veins. Louis was not a warrior, he was a scientist. A man of learning and letters. His whole life up to this point had been dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge and it rattled him, scared him, this reaction to a man who had lost the last vestiges of sanity on an alien world after decades of imprisonment here. His mind told him that perhaps it had been the survival instinct that had corrupted this man's vision or maybe some tenderness for the Irlixian people in the beginning as he claimed. Perhaps he really had started out that way, someone who thought it necessary to step forward to save a whole race of people from extinction in the only way he knew how. It didn't matter, He had never known he could so hate a man and everything he stood for. Nakamura had become the antithesis of everything he believed in, fought for. He was like the Yin to Louis' Yang. The dark side opposed to the light. And Louis hated him for it, hated him to the point he had almost murdered him in cold blood. Not because of Nakamura's taunts but because it had seemed the right, the holy thing to do. Why? Because Nakamura had become almost a god to these people. A god who had lost all vestiges of restraint. Corrupted power without control. Absolute right with no countering balance to bring equilibrium to this society. A god out of control. The phaser was still held in the hand at his side as Nakamura shouted again. "Do it!" "No." Louis head shook as he forced himself to keep some remnant of calm. "You'd like that wouldn't you Nakamura?. You've had absolute control, absolute freedom to do as you wanted on this world for decades. The thought of being imprisoned and punished frightens you doesn't it?" Nakamura's face twisted in hatred as he snarled at Louis. "I knew you couldn't do it! You're a whimpering child, you don't have the intestinal fortitude to take the step into manhood." Louis stepped around the desk as the light of hope flared in Nakamura's eyes but he didn't approach him or raise the phaser, instead he sat down on the desk facing the man and set the phaser beside him. "You fear what's going to happen to you so much that you would rather die than go back." Nakamura's eyes flashed but he clamped his jaws shut, gritting his teeth as he stared back at him in hatred. "You'll be like a caged animal in a zoo, scorned, forced to do the bidding of others. You'll most likely be sent to some remote penal colony on an asteroid or barely habitable planet. Just another inmate with delusions of godhood. A caged animal. Maybe someday you will be rehabilitated and perhaps not. You might spend your whole life in that cage, raging to get out." The man's eyes flashed and his hands flexed before he lowered his gaze and small whimpers of fear escaped through his grit teeth. Louis had no pity for him, no mercy. "I hope you die there." Without turning his back to the man he retrieved the phaser and returned to his seat behind the desk. His eyes held no warmth for the terrified man. Propping his feet back up on the desk with the phaser in his lap he tapped the combadge. "Captain." (Reply: Salid) "Captain I have some bad news, Nakamura has confessed that he murdered the captain of the Bohrs sir. She won't be returning home." (Reply: Salid) (Posted by CHarles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Governmental offices, CO, Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid, Day 8- 2011) Ahmed stood in the middle of the massive office that had once belonged to Khoda Rhone. The trappings of stolen federation technology were obvious everywhere he looked. From the small personalized replicator, to the salvaged LCARS display and the away team equipment carefully protected in the glass cases that were neatly arranged around the room. Those things were nothing more than just more damning evidence of how far the unstable Lieutenant Nakamura had slid into his personalized delusion of grandeur. In front of him was the conference monitor. It's surface was currently displaying the faces of the four top leaders of the other political bodies on the planet as well as those of their immediate lieutenants. Behind Ahmed stood the representatives of the Rhone Union. =^= And how are we to believe that this is not some sort of elaborate ploy by the Rhone Union to gather us together so that they can execute us all and force their will on our leaderless peoples, captain?=^= The leader of the United Confederation of Mol asked. "That is a reasonable question, Mister President. And by all means I fully expect you all to be suspicious. I would be if I were in your position. But be that as it may, you have to ask yourself what would your respective people lose should you fail to join into the talks and disarmament programs that will be taking place on this world?" "First you would be denying all your people the right to be heard during the critical formative stages of the development of a world government. Secondly, you will find yourself sanctioned and embargoes from technological and economic exchange with the United federation of planets while your neighbors benefit from the full rewards that such cooperation would entitle them to." "Next consider that until you ALL come together, no one at all will benefit from any interaction with the federation and that no technologies derived from the theft of Federation technology will be tolerated. Additionally your species will be quarantined to your planet until such time as you can show that you can form a functional and stable government, determined to the peaceful expansion of space and the development of social cooperation as a singular species." =^= But you're all but demanding that we are to completely disarm. That could leave us open to an invasion by your own people or to the inability to protect ourselves from each other.=^= the Nuveric representative retorted, =^= and that is a preposterous proposition.=^= "I understand that we are asking a great deal of you. And I will not minimize your concerns, but I can assure you that if the United federation of planets wanted to invade your world and dominate your culture we can do so easily. We are more technologically advanced, we have the ability to control any point on the planet that we'd like from orbit and there isn't a single power on this world that could really offer us much resistance. Yet, here I am standing, asking you to work together for the betterment of your entire species because that is the right thing to do. If we were so intent on conquest we could begin such a campaign without opening any talks. We could force the issue if we chose, but we aren't going to do that because in the Federation we believe that every species has a right to self determination." "However, we also believe that every Starfleet officer has a moral responsibility to do everything in their power to rectify wrongs and to settle disagreements through diplomacy and dialog wherever possible. We will not harm a single person on this world if we can avoid it. In fact, you should have already received the complete list of targets that we will destroy, along with a schedule that we will employ to the second should you choose to not take advantage of this unique and visionary opportunity to combine resources and come together to work towards a brighter more stable future that could very well usher in a new golden age for all Irlixians for generations to come." Several of the leaders on the screen were nodding, and Ahmed could see the reflections of the two Irlixians standing behind him as they nodded also. There was a chirp, and Ahmed's commbadge came to life a second later. =^=Captain.=^= Ahmed looked up at the screen. "If you gentlemen will allow me a few moments?" He asked, and was granted his request by the assembled Irlixians who then turned to each other and began discussing things. Ahmed in the mean time moved across the room and tapped his commbadge. "Go ahead mister Remey." He replied. =^=Captain I have some bad news, Nakamura has confessed that he murdered the captain of the Bohrs sir. She won't be returning home.=^= That stung. Ahmed almost lost his temper at that very moment. To have a Federation officer murdered by another officer was beyond reproach. "Thank you for the update Ensign. Please see to it that the prisoner remains healthy and fit for trial." (reply Remey) "Very good. Consider that we may be here for a little while longer, as the Rosenante is likely to be engaged with RU forces and may be disposed. Take due caution to remain safe." (reply Remey) "Salid out." Ahmed turned back towards the government officials as they talked amongst themselves. It was good to see them actually discussing things without threats or posturing. Perhaps there was hope for them to recover from this debacle yet. (reply Remey) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City- Governmental offices, ACSO, Louis Remey, Day 8- 2013) Louis watched his charge closely as Salid replied, there was a sense of thinly veiled frustration in his voice. =^= Thank you for the update Ensign. Please see to it that the prisoner remains healthy and fit for trial.=^= And why had he added that last part about the prisoner remaining healthy? Was it possible he had heard hints of Remey's own detestation of the man in his voice? Louis noted that his jaw did feel a bit tight, as though he may have been speaking through grit teeth. "Understood sir." He couldn't help saying that in a voice tinged with bitterness. "He certainly won't be going anywhere, not if I have anything to say about it." =^= Very good. Consider that we may be here for a little while longer as the Rosenante is likely to be engaged with RU forces and may be disposed. Take due caution to remain safe.=^= "Steps are being taken as we speak sir, I am in a defensible location and should be able to hold out till reinforcements arrive. Just one more thing to take care of that will be done shortly." =^= Salid out.=^= ~One last thing.~ Louis took off the 'spectacles' he had been wearing and tossed them on the desk for now then pulled the tricorder off his belt. The chamber had been fortified as well as he could make it but information is always the key to a good defense. Tapping on the keys quickly he set it for life form scans in a 100 meter radius which brought up readings on the dozen Irlixians standing at tactically sensitive points around the building and in the hallways. Next he set the device to scan for gases and nerve agents. If there were to be an attempt it was likely the assailants might try to render him unconscious before or during. At least if he were aware of it before hand he could send out a call for help. And there was always the last resort. Since Nakamura was becoming elderly it was possible a phaser set to heavy stun might do more than knock him out, it might actually kill him. ~Could I be so lucky? At least I could deny any intent and his death would CERTAINLY be no great loss.~ He gave the man a fierce grin at the thought which caused the turncoat to give him a calculating look. ~Probably still hoping I'll execute him here. Go on wishing you puke, I won't give you the satisfaction!~ "I'm thirsty." Louis' eyes popped up from the tricorder screen which he had just glanced back down at. He glared at the renegade a second before speaking. "What a tragedy." Nakamura gave his best impression of a weakened, frail gentleman. "You wouldn't deny me water now would you? Where is that vaunted humanity of yours?" "And I suppose I would have to untie a hand for you, maybe you even need to go to the head." Louis' voice was cold. "Sorry your 'eminence' but no dice. I'm sure you won't die from a dry mouth or full bladder so tough it out. I don't give a frakk if you are the queen of Sheba, you are staying right there at arms length till we are beamed out of here so can the whine routine. I'll deliver you alive all right but don't expect concierge service. " He set his feet upon the floor and positioned the 'corder upon the desk so that he could see the readings easily then looked back at the fuming dictator. "You may as well make yourself comfortable, we may be here for a while." "In this?" Nakamura grated. "Fat chance." Louis shook his head in mock pity. "Poor you. I'm sure your victims would have been happy to trade places." (Reply: None) (Posted by Charles) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, ATAC/SEC Ensign Marta Nunez- Day 8, 2015) "Understood. I'm forwarding the data to the Rosenante now and sending you the coordinates for both the Bohrs and the Transporter console we found data for. We're leaving here to link up with you now." replied Nunez. =^=We'll meet at the South-West corner of the building. Make your exit snappy Ensign. I don't want to stick around any longer.=^= ordered Matrix. "Aye sir. Nunez out." Marta gave Robert a glance and a smile. "Good work, now let's get the f&$@ out of here." she said and motioned for the ops officer to follow her towards the door. Marta reached it and true to her years of Marine training, she placed her foot into position to stop a sudden rush should the door be forced open before she gently and slowly cracked the door to take a look into the corridor beyond. An Irlixian clerk was heading their way carrying a file folder under his left arm and whistling some sort of melodic tune , Marta slid the door closed and started quietly counting to herself. ~1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8...9...Now!~ In a flurry of movement, she snapped the door open, just as the Irlixian was reaching out for the door knob. Her left hand grabbed his outstretched arm and a sudden jerk pulled him forward, off-balance and into her outstretched arm. Clothes lined, the Irlixian suddenly changed direction slamming into the floor with a startled exhalation of air. In a moment, Marta was on him, Her left boot pushing against the artery in his neck as she pulled his left arm upward towards her. The Irlixian whimpered as he struggled for breath, but he didn't stand a chance against a trained marine. His hand slapped the floor a few times before going motionless. Marta held the position a bit longer, until she was certain that he was not faking it and then released him. Other than the Boot shaped bruise on his neck and soreness in his left arm and shoulder, he'd be fine, she surmised and so with very little effort, she dragged him into the office, then went back and retrieved the dropped file. She placed it on the floor next to him and then returned to the corridor. Now determining that the coast was clear, she led Smith out of the office and towards the southwestern corner of the building. The route was fairly secure, since it was comprised entirely of enclosed hallways and never crossed any significant open spaces. Still, Marta was on her guard the entire way, her phaser up and in the ready position even as she swept the corridor with her eyes. They made excellent time and before they actually breached the corridor where the extraction would happen Marta remembered the old adage that friendly fire was not so friendly. She stopped Smith and tapped her commbadge quickly and said, "Nunez to Matrix and Sanok, entering southwest corridor now, Hold your fire to the west." (reply Sanok, Matrix) Marta tapped her badge again to close the link and then carefully opened the door to make certain that they were not going to get any unexpected surprises. Finding the area clear of hostiles, she led Smith once again through the door and down the hall until she spotted Matrix and Sanok. "We're here and ready to go sir." Nunez reported, gesturing to Smith as she spoke. (reply Smith, Sanok, Matrix) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, ACEO Lieutenant Steven Matrix - Day 8, 2017) Matrix lead Sanok out of the office and into the dark corridor. The natural light was all but gone as the sunlight had faded along with the setting Irlixian sun. Matrix had turned off his tricorder and tucked it away in his mission pack in exchange for a hand phaser. They made their way slowly back to the rally point and awaited for Nunez and Smith to arrive. Matrix's commbadge chirped. "Nunez to Matrix and Sanok, entering southwest corridor now, Hold your fire to the west." Matrix tapped his commbadge, "Understood Ensign. We're awaiting you at the rally point. No one in sight so far, but make your way carefully." replied Matrix. (Reply Nunez) "Sanok, take cover as best you can and keep a watch down that corridor. Smith and Nunez will be coming down the west side...so if anything moves in your direction use your discretion." said Matrix. (Reply Sanok) =^= Matrix to Rosenante, 60 seconds and my away team should be in place and ready for beam out. Nunez and Smith are making there way to the extraction point now. Data has been relayed. Please advise. =^= (Reply Bridge - Anyone) =^= Understood. Matrix out. =^= "Nice work back there Sanok." Matrix said with a smile. (Reply Sanok, Nunez, Smith) (Posted by Steve) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, Ensign sg Sanok, Day 8, 2021) Matrix said, "Sanok, take cover as best you can and keep a watch down that corridor. Smith and Nunez will be coming down the west side,.so if anything moves in your direction, use your discretion." Sanok nodded and moved in the indicated direction, taking up a defensive position in a doorway. The sooner the others arrived, and they could beam out, the better. Things had gone too easily for them, and Sanok had learned that wasn't always a good sign. It had something to do with some guy named Murphy that someone had told him about. While waiting for Nunez and Smith, Sanok heard Matrix talking to the ship about their beam out. Things sounded as though there might be a delay. He wondered how things were going with the rest of the plan. "Nice work back there, Sanok." said Matrix. Sanok wrinkled his forehead, not knowing for sure to what Matrix was referring. He glanced back over his shoulder and offered a simple thank you. He faced forward again when he heard someone coming. It was Nunez and Smith. The two walked past and Nunez nodded. Sanok did the same. They then reported in to Matrix. The waiting resumed. (reply Matrix, Nunez, Smith, any) (Posted by Bob) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, ATAC/SEC Ensign Marta Nunez- Day 8, 2022) =^=Understood Ensign. We're awaiting you at the rally point. No one in sight so far, but make your way carefully.=^= "Understood. Nunez out." she replied and then they entered the corridor. Smith trailed her exactly as a non-combatant should; not too close to get in the way, yet not so far away that he risked being cut off. It was almost as if the man was half marine. Of course, considering that his brother was a marine MCO, the fact that the operations officer seemed to have a clue wasn't entirely unexpected. They took their time, after all rushing this late in the game would only have caused them to increase the chances of running into someone as a result of complacency or in haste. The trip wasn't exceptionally long, but it was too long for Marta's liking. She preferred to stay together whenever possible. The presence of other individuals on the team increased your own chances of survival even if you were caught unawares. If for no other reason then there would me more targets for the enemy to choose from. She made it to Sanok and gave him a nod as she moved past his picketing position and beyond to the waiting lieutenant Matrix. "We're here sir. And ready to beam up whenever you give the word," she stated. (reply Matrix) "And did they say how long it would be?" (reply Matrix) "Looks like we just keep our eyes open and maintain as low a profile as possible and hope that Rosenbauer and his team can pull off their part of the mission without our help on the Bohrs." (reply Matrix, Sanok, Smith) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix, Khoda City, Government HQ, Ensign sg Sanok, Day 8, 2025) Matrix said, "My away team one is at the rally point. Team two is on their way now. Just minutes and we'll be ready for beam out. Data extraction successful. No causalities. Please advise." Sanok continued to keep watch in the corridor, while Matrix began getting frustrated at not being able to arrange the team being beamed out. It would not surprise Sanok if circumstances caused them to be stranded. In his previous assignment, he had routinely been in such situations with his friend Ben Soma. Somehow, some way, they had always managed to find a way out of every jam, even the time he had been kidnapped by members of an organized crime syndicate that had caused a fire in a restaurant on Geneva Station. The owner crossed the wrong people and lost his business. While being held captive, Ben had led the team that eventually rescued him. Though Ben wasn't with him now, Sanok had to keep that same resolve the two had always maintained, no matter the mission or the bad things that happened. Sanok scanned the area with his tricorder. Things were still clear, so there was no reason to worry or be concerned. There were reasons the Rosenante and the other teams were preoccupied. There was still time. Their people wouldn't leave them behind. (reply any) (posted by Bob) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - aCO - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 2035.3) The transporting of the Irlixian survivors began in earnest. At evacuation speeds the Rose could have the whole crew up in mere moments. T'Larah watched the progress on her command console. Repairs were well underway. It would be some time before the shields were in good repair, but the surgical strikes that the Rose had delivered could be repaired. All the Irlixian ships would need repairs, most of them in a space dock. T'Larah didn't remember seeing those in orbit, and thought it would be interesting to see exactly how they would accomplish that. (Reply Jackson) "Good, let them know that I will be with them shortly, and please see to the comfort of our guests in the cargo holds. Ensure that medical teams have arrived to triage and tend to their wounded. Show them the replicators and how to use ours, replicate furniture, tables, chairs and cots for sleeping. Explain to them the rules, leave the cargo alone, and if they require anything else to ask security." (Reply Jackson) "Good thinking, however I don't think that will be a problem, the transporter filters should have screened all weapons out. If it didn't, then posted security will handle it." (Reply Jackson) "Mister Dralar, you have the bridge." she said and walked into the observation lounge. (Reply Dralar) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CONN - Lieutenant Dralar - Day 8- 2036) "Mister Dralar, you have the bridge." Sullivan intoned as she rose from her center chair on her way to the observation lounge. "Aye sir. I have the bridge." The Skorr officer replied as he rose and assumed the command seat. "Continue with the evacuations." he ordered and settled in to watch the displays to see if they'd have to withdraw before the mission was complete. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix- Seliya Facility Corridor -SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer, Day 8 - 2038) Mike and Ichijo along with Lopez's aid had managed to get the living Starfleet officers moving. The Andorian was making progress hopping along as best he could while leaning heavily on Lopez's shoulder, while Mike carried the stunned Starfleet officer over one shoulder and one of the Bohr's engineers carried the body of their fallen shipmate. The trip through the corridors to the hanger had been incredibly exhausting, with the weight of the stricken officer sapping into Mike's reserves with wild abandon. Only his Ranger Mind set and sheer determination kept him going. He had an unabating desire to get these people clear of here and to get the team out. He hoped that matrix had managed to get his team to the Bohrs and that they would be able to get the hell off this dust ball as soon as they could get aboard, but when they surveyed the captured federation starship from their position of cover it quickly became apparent that the Bohrs was still dead in the water. "Sunova..." Mike cursed under his breath. Just once he'd like to have a plan actually work the way it was supposed to rather than being forced to improvise and force some change on his team unexpectedly. The fight to get to the hanger so far had been a tough one. Already, they had suffered a few minor injuries which had reduced members of his expanded team into walking wounded. The hanger however was going to be a tough nut to crack. Mike and the others crouched down behind a stack of crates and mike rested the still unresponsive federation officer against the barricade so that he could move to one side and get a better look at the situation he and his team were in. The Hanger was absolutely massive. The wreckage of a partially rebuilt Akira class starship dominated the far end, but it was the Bohrs and a Type VII shuttle that he was most interested in at the moment. The larger of those two ships was the Bohrs, the Mission scout that had been the impetus for the Rosenante's dispatch to Irlixian space eight days ago. The smaller ship was the shuttle, that if Mike understood things correctly, had been the ship that Soma had been on when he was forced down on Irlix. Soma was right there and so Mike made a command decision. He needed a distraction and there was only one way that he could think of to make that work. He called both Soma and Masters over and laid out his plan. Basically the two of them were to get aboard the shuttle, use it to draw the attention of the Irlixians in the shuttle bay long enough for the rest of the crew to get aboard the Bohrs. The hanger was massive, but it was apparent that even the smaller shuttle wouldn't be able to do too much maneuvering. The idea was to give them something more resilient than the away team members to shoot at long enough to allow the rest of the team to board the Bohrs and make her operational. If things went too bad on the shuttle they were to beam back to the Bohrs and regroup with the others. The two men made their way to the shuttle without much difficulty, the pair seemed to be rather lucky since twice they managed to dodge a couple of Irlixians walking past on some unknown errands. When they gained access to the shuttle, Mike smiled as he then realized it wouldn't take much to really get everyone in the bay focused on the shuttle and not the team. When the shuttle lifted off, his suspicions were proven true. Every Irlixian in the area rushed out into the open drawing every small arm weapons that they had and fired a maelstrom of phased energy shots towards the shuttle as it maneuvered around in the limited space of the shuttle bay. Once the shuttle was as far away from the team as they could Go, Mike ordered his people forward and they made it to the Bohrs without incident. Once they were aboard and the hatch closed he issued his orders. "Lopez get the wounded to sickbay and get the most serious injuries treated. Ichijo you're with him." (reply Ichijo, Lopez iyw) "O'Neill, head to engineering with Lieutenant Boranma. Get the Bohrs as operational as possible. I want a status report as soon as possible. I'm headed for the bridge. Be careful in case we have any Irlixians aboard, and try to get me power to the transporters when you can, we may have to locate and rescue Lieutenant Matrix and his team." (reply O'Neill iyw) "I'm headed for the bridge. You and you." he said pointing at two of the other officers that he didn't know. You're with me." "Aye sir." They replied and Mike and the others headed for the bridge as everyone went their separate ways. (reply Lopez, O'Neill, Ichijo iyw, but not necessary) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - aCO - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 2040.2*) Suddenly, there was a bright flash on the main viewer as the Irlixian star ship vaporized into tiny little motes of energy that spread outwards from the ship like the corona of an exploding star. The Rosenante shuddered a little from the turbulence, but she was too far away to truly be in any danger. "...Correction sir, the Irlixian ship's containment has failed and the ship has been vaporized." he reported. T'Larah reached for the nearest working panel and searched the computer library finding what she wanted. "Computer, play the following message on all stations and terminals, except engineering and sickbay. Ensure it played in the observation lounge and all cargo bays." The bos'n whistle's distinctive three note call played over the audio outputs around the vessel, calling all stations not actively repairing the ship, or caring for a patients to attention. "Attention on the vessel, this is Commander Sullivan. The Irlixian flagship the Starfall, has succumbed to her damage. I would like to have a moment of silence on the vessel to honor her sacrifice for peace." T'Larah then pushed a button and the ancient Terran dirge known as 'Taps' played over the loud speakers. The last note played T'Larah ended the tribute, "Remember her sacrifice, carry-on." and she closed the channel. (Reply Rose Crew, Irlixians) "Mister Dralar, you have the bridge, I will be in the observation lounge. Set course for Irlix warp 4." (Reply Dralar) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility -  Shuttle Brisbane- ATAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma- 2040.5) Ben began straffing the hanger bay doors with the shuttles phasers, a scan revealed that the doors measured almost a meter thick and highly reinforced. Bringing the shuttle around for another pass he brought the shields online and retracted then to theier minimum effective distance. Though the Irlixian's were only using small arms a lucky shot could send him into the walls or the deck. As he straightened out he moved to the aft section and quickly swept up his fathers katana. ~Wouldn't want to leave this behind~ Sitting back he was pleased to see the shields were holding against the barrage but were slowly beginning to drain. He continued his assult of the door knowing nothing short of a torpedo or two was going to have any noticeable effect on the fortified structure. Collision alerts sounded very couple seconds as he made course corrections to avoid the Irlixian fire and attempt to maintain the ruse of trying to escape. The others should be reaching the Bohrs and entering in an attempt to bring her back to life. [Warning, shields at 53%] Came the computers report. "Tell me something I don't know." Ben replied under his breath as the shuttle shook from another series of hits. [Collision Alert] This came just as Ben banked the shuttle around and over the Bohrs to get a glance of the rescue teams progress, mostly he saw mass confusion as the Irlixian's ran about trying to keep the shuttle from escaping. He considered firing at the deck but dismissed the idea knowing he would most like injure the team as well as the guards. [Shields at 42% and falling] Ben muted the computers audio warnings, he could see the shield status on his console easily enough. Inertial dampening was also beginning to fluctuate, the force of the manuvers becomming more apparent with each pass. She saw the five Irlixians on the command team, the Fleet Commander and four others. Their uniforms were similar to Starfleet. A dark main color a deep charcoal, and a presumably departmental color collar. Where the starfleet uniform was rather plain, the Irlixian version had epaulets also of the same color and substantially more metal of a blueish silver hue, possibly rank or some other denotation of status. They noted her entry as well and immediately started making demands of her. (Reply Irlixian delegation, Flt Cmdr Frazil) "Commander, gentlemen, calm down." she said holding up one hand a gesture of emphasis. "I am Commander Sullivan, and I want to formally welcome you aboard the USS Rosenante." (Reply Flt Cmdr Frazil) After the Commander introduced his staff T'Larah noted that the collar colors did denote a sectional difference in the uniform. "And yes, you can go see your crew when ever you like. We are currently seeing to their medical needs and they are free to get food and drink when they like." she said remembering hearing the most reasonable of the cluster of requests and demands she heard walking through the lounge doors. (Reply Irlixian Delegate) "Unfortunately no, at this time I can't allow you free roam of the ship. (Reply Irlixians) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - CO - Fleet CO Frazil - Day 8- 2042) Frazil and his men stood anxiously in the Observation lounge looking out of the massive viewport at the slowly spinning wreckage of their ship. It wouldn't be much longer now before the ship blossomed into a ball of antimatter and was reduced to so much space dust. The door to the compartment slid open and all eyes turned to regard the Romulan female commander of the ship. She was unusual looking, as Frazil had been led to believe that all Romulans possessed dark hair. Yet still, there was a bearing about her that demanded respect, especially since he and his crew were currently at her mercy. The other officers from his ship however, didn't seem to understand the niceties involved and immediately started making demands of the alien commanding officer. And there was so much noise from their caterwauling that Frazil couldn't have said anything and be heard over the din. The Romulan, however took everything in stride. "Commander, gentlemen, calm down." she said holding up one hand a gesture of emphasis. "I am Commander Sullivan, and I want to formally welcome you aboard the USS Rosenante." Frazil managed to step forward then as the junior officers suddenly grew quiet. His position of authority among the prisoners was not in question and they knew better than to push their luck while he was moving forward to formally accept the woman's offers of welcome. "Commander Sullivan. I am Fleet Commander Frazil, of the First Combat fleet of the Rhone Union. Thank you for your showing of mercy and good wishes. Allow me to introduce my senior officers." Frazil went through and introduced each of the six other officers present in the compartment. They were his bridge crew and as such they had earned a place here for this event, whatever the outcome might be. "May I see my crew?" Frazil asked. "And yes, you can go see your crew when ever you like. " Sullivan replied evenly, "We are currently seeing to their medical needs and they are free to get food and drink when they like." "Can we see more of your ship?" His chief weapons officer asked. "Unfortunately no, at this time I can't allow you free roam of the ship. Once our ship's repairs are underway we can start small tours of the vessel, your command group first followed by your department heads and the rest of your officers. Right now our priority is recovering from battle. So if you would like something to eat the replicators are at your disposal. They are voice activated, so if you want something just ask." "So it will make Irlixian food?" another asked in shock. "We are not programmed with Irlixian dishes, however if you describe it, the computer will make an approximation." she explained. "That will do nicely commander Sullivan. We appreciate your well treatment and hospitality." Frazil added. "Is there any chance that I could communicate with the other ships in my fleet, to let them know of our capture?" "No Commander, at this time I cannot allow a communication with the other ships in the Irlixian fleet. However once the rest of your crew have been transported aboard we can arrange a monitored communiqué with your fleet." she said. "Thank you commander, your answer was not unexpected. But I felt it my duty to at least inquire." Frazil asked. "May we contact our families or government?" another officer asked. "I'm sorry I will have to take further questions at a later time, I have a ship to attend to. If you want to speak with your crew your security escort will take you there by the most direct route." she said and the guard nodded his understanding. "If you will excuse me." Frazil nodded his understanding. "Thank you commander. We would like to be taken there now if we may." The guard stepped forward and replied, "right this way gentlemen." When the rubble got too bad to climb over, he hopped inside a jeffries tube and crawled through with agility that only someone of his short stature could manage. When Eian exited through the jeffries tube and entered Engineering, he grinned back at his company and said, "There are some benefits to being short." (reply whoever's with Eian) Eian chuckled, and headed over to the warp core area immediately. He spotted an abandoned engineering kit and grabbed it, then dropped to his knees and ducked under one of the panels, surveying what he had to work with. "Okay, we've got engines offline, but it looks like it's a basic three-by-three matrix combination that's out on that plasma grid over there. All we need to do is find some power and reroute it to that sub-section, and then replace the plasma grid's gel packs. There should be spares down here somewhere. And...as for weapons..." he ducked out from under the panel and jogged over to another, which already had the cover yanked off of it. He dropped to his knees again and surveyed the underside of the panel. "Ugh..." he said, and shook his head. "Aww, this is bad." (reply if anyone wants) "The main control module that handles weapons guidance is blown to pieces. It's got to be replaced completely, and that isn't exactly a spare part. (reply any) (Posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Seliya facility -  Shuttle Brisbane - ATAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma- 2044) "Try it now." Doug called from the back. Ben routed whatever power Doug had managed to come up with to the shields, thankfully it made a difference and the shields responded. "It's working." Ben replied. "Shields at 50% and climbing." [Shields at 60%] The computer stated. ~Thought I muted that~ Ben thought. "The shields won't hold long under this barrage, it's only small arms fire but there's so much of it the emiiters will over load eventually." Ben stated. "And why aren't we shooting back?" Doug asked as he made his way back to the front. "Even set to the lowest power level the shuttles phasers will discentigrate a humanoid." Ben replied. He wanted to fire back but he didn't want to kill anyone if it was avoidable. "And? you are a tactical officer, set the shuttle's phasers to stun that way you won't kill any one.  Normally the shuttle's phasers can't do that, but give me a few minutes and you will have stun settings." he said. Ben was puzzled by the statement, set the shuttles phasers to stun? How could this be accomplished, it wasn't like he could flip a switch like he would do with a hand phaser. The shuttles weapons were designed to inflict damage when used in spactial combat, they weren't meant to be used to repel ground attacks. The vessel rocked from the repeated small arms fire. [Shields at 50%] "Almost got it..." Doug said.  The vessel rocked again the combination of that and Soma's violent manuvering sent one of the tools from the engineering kit flying.  That tool struck Doug in the temple. "OW, sonofa!" Doug yelled. "You ok back there?" Ben asked after Doug cursed. "Yeah, I'm alright, hold on." Doug said rubbing his sore head.  The tool that hit him just happened to be the tool he needed.  "Just one second, and got it.  You now have phasers set to stun." he said. [Warning photon signature detected.] the computer toned. ~This isn't good~ Ben thought ~A photon will reduce this shuttle to a debris field on the deck with the shields as low as they are~ Ben glanced down at the console and noted that Doug had somehow managed to adjust the power and frequency of the phasers to a setting very close to a hand weapon, it was still a very heavy stun that would render anyone it hit unconcious for the better part of a day and possibly result in extensive damage to thier nervous system but they would live. "They've armed a photon launcher.  Stun them!" "Hold on to something." Ben stated as he swung the shuttle around on its axis tempoarily overloading the IDS. He scanned for the device, locked on and hit the fire control. Beams of light extended from the nose of the shuttle and struck the small group manning the photon launcher. The warning quickly stopped sounding as the device lost it's lock on the shuttle. [Shields at 37%] "We need to get off this shuttle before thier fire breaks through the shields." Ben said. "See if there's any power left in the emergency transporter, set coordinates for anywhere inside the Bohrs." (reply Doug) Ben eased the shuttle in a slow arch around the hanger as Doug moved towards the rear compartment. He took the occasional shot, but the shuttle continued to shutter under the continued assult. There were simply to many of them to take out and he didn't have enough room to perform adiquate evasive manuvers. Another blast rocked the shuttle as a shower of sparks erupted from the console beside Ben, the automatic fire control system came to life and supressed the fireworks before they could do any significant damage to surrounding systems. [Shields at 29%] "How's it coming back there?" Ben asked as another blast struck home. (reply Doug) (posted by Milo Young) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Bohrs-Main Engineering - Lt Boranma - Day 8 - 2045) Boranma, or Bora as her friends preferred had accompanied O'Neill to main engineering and was very glad that they made the single deck journey without difficulty. The sight of the main core darkened bothered her to no end since she knew exactly how long it would take to get it restarted. "There are some benefits to being short." O'Neill added as he nimbly slipped out of the access tube that they had used to make their way through the ship. "Yeah, tell me about it," the engineering officer replied, also blessed with the same gift of stature. "And here I thought that someday I'd like to marry a tall man. This whole experience is making me reassess my priorities." As Eoin headed for the warp core, Bora slid directly into the intermix assembly point to take a quick review of the relay points. She was just pulling her head out of the guts of the assembly when Eoin spoke, " Okay, we've got engines offline, but it looks like it's a basic three-by-three matrix combination that's out on that plasma grid over there. "Aww, this is bad." "No surprise their Lieutenant masters fragged it. Said he didn't want the locals getting weapons tech. But on the good side the intermix assembly is in excellent shape and completely serviceable." "The main control module that handles weapons guidance is blown to pieces. It's got to be replaced completely, and that isn't exactly a spare part. We may be able to load torpedoes manually or shoot phasers if we got them powered up, but there's absolutely no fire control. There's as much chance of the weapons looping back to hit *us* than there is of hitting any target." O'Neill explained and Bora could only nod as she headed over to the power relays and start looking at the power flow regulators. While her partner was busy reporting to the bridge, Bora was quickly rerouting power to critical subsystems, by passing systems that had suffered damage and isolating anything that looked like it could cause too much of a problem to risk. On a mission scout of this size, there was a significant limit to what they could handle quickly. O'Neill and she were the only engineers on board and with Doug off the ship, that would leave them stretched to handle things if there turned out to be a main problem. Suddenly Eoin was talking to her again. "Hand me that spanner over there, will you? And if you can find replacement gel packs, that'd be great." "Sure thing." She replied, giving the spanner a good kick towards him, enough so that it stopped just at his elbow. There should be some spare gel packs in the cryostorage bay. I'll grab some and be right back." Lieutenant, want some help with the SIF and Inertial Dampers?" "I'd love some help." Bora replied with a smile. "Good start opening all these panels on the starboard side of engineering. I will get the port side." he said and started opening the panels. Bora moved and started pulling panels, but couldn't resist asking. "Why exactly are we pulling panels?" "Well to keep the Irlixians from making heads or tails I did a switch of a substantial number of key parts of roughly the same size. Of course it wouldn't work, and the safety protocols would prevent them from taking power." he said. "Instead of destroying the components?" she asked fascinated at the idea. "Those systems take way more power then life support, so I didn't think blowing it up was an option. It's not like we were captured by Romulans, these guys hadn't been in space that long, and so with the meticulous way they would have to approach it, they were clueless." Once she had all the panels off as he had asked, he began to explain which ones went where and the pattern used to make sure he remembered. "That almost makes a delta starburst pattern." she said as he described the removal and replacement pattern. "Yeah that's right, only thought a pilot would be able to figure that out." he said. They continued to switch parts and make sure the SIF and Inertial Dampers were back in place. "That should do it." he announced. "But will it take power?" she asked, still trying to follow all the changes that they had made in the last few minutes. "Don't worry, it will take power, trust me." Doug said in all seriousness. "Well there's no time like the present. Why don't you do the honors?" Suffice it to say that the engines will basically be held together with bubble gum and string.=^= "Okay, then." Mike replied a little slowly, "Get chewing and tying then Mister O'Neil. An officer will be down to help you soon. " =^=Yes, Sir, I'll get right on it, Sir. O'Neill out.=^= Mike spun to the man standing at the operations station. "You heard him. He needs a hand down in Engineering. You're what I have to spare. Give him all the help you can and then head back up here as soon as possible." "Yes sir." the man replied and then quickly turned and headed to main engineering. He watched on the main view screen as the shuttle rocked under the barrage of weapons fire. Mike did a quick scan and could see that things weren't going well. The shuttle wouldn't be able to handle much more of the punishment it was getting so he quickly jumped up from the command seat and headed for the tactical station. Another quick scan allowed him to lock onto the two federation officers on board, as well as some cargo that seemed to be personal in nature and Mike initiated the Bohrs transporters to bring them aboard. It took a few minutes longer than he might have liked, but in a few moments, the two officers appeared on the bridge, just to his left along with a personal duffel and what appeared to be an oriental sword. "Welcome aboard the Bohrs mister Soma, mister Masters. Mister Soma, Take tactical, the targeting systems are shot. Mister Masters I need you helping Ensign O'Neill in Engineering. " There was a deep basso boom as the shuttle, now uncontrolled slammed into the wreckage of the Medea and exploded. It wasn't an antimatter explosion, but it was a sizeable ball of fire nonetheless. The mighty frame of the Akira class ship shuddered and collapsed like the frame of the Hindenburg airship in upstate New York centuries earlier. Flame and debris collapsing into a useless heap of twisted metal and Duranium. Now all they'd have to do is get the Bohrs moving before the Irlixians thought to storm the ship. (reply O'Neill, Soma, Masters) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - CONN - Lieutenant Dralar - Day 8- 2049) "The last of the Irlixians have been beamed aboard sir." someone reported and Dralar clucked his understanding. He turned to the helm, where a bridge specialist had replaced him. "Move us to a safe distance from the alien vessel. Full impulse." he ordered. "Full Impulse aye, sir." the helms replied and the Rosenante turned slowly on her axis and headed away from the stricken Irlixian ship. The door to the observation lounge slid open and Sullivan returned to the bridge. ""Mister Dralar, are the transports complete?" "They are commander, " The Skorr officer replied. "Good, move us to a safe distance. What is the current status of the antimatter containment?" "We are already underway, sir. The Irlixian containment is currently..." He studied his displays, "14.3% and rapidly declining. The containment should fail any..." Suddenly, there was a bright flash on the main viewer as the Irlixian starship vaporized into tiny little motes of energy that spread outwards from the ship like the corona of an exploding star. The Rosenante shuddered a little from the turbulence, but she was too far away to truly be in any danger. "...Correction sir, the Irlixian ship's containment has failed and the ship has been vaporized." he reported. The two dissasembled just before the shuttle violently touched down. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - CO - Fleet CO Frazil - Day 8- 2049.3) Frazil had seen to his crew and then been escorted back to the observation lounge at his request. It seemed to him that these Federation officers seemed honorable enough and that they really didn't intend on enslaving his crew. From everything that he had heard about the Romulans, which admittedly wasn't much, he would not have thought that such behavior would have been possible. After some time, which frazil spent staring out at the sparkling points of lights that he knew were the crippled remnants of his attack fleet, the door to the observation lounge opened and the Romulan officer entered the compartment. Frazil did not turn to face her, since the angle of the light shining from the massive portal in front of him allowed him to observe her through her reflection. She didn't pause for long, instead getting right to the purpose of her visit, "Commander, let's make a call to your fleet." she said. The fleet Commander nodded, although he knew that he had passed command of the battle fleet on to one of his junior officers, he wasn't about to make that fact known to the commander of the Rosenante. The very fact that he had done so had guaranteed that he could not truly issue any orders that might jeopardize the operation as a whole. It was a trick he had learned after a nearly disastrous naval operation during the war. But if she wanted him to call the fleet he certainly would cooperate. It was to his benefit to do so. He turned and looked at her and gave her a single nod. "Very well Commander. I am ready. Is there anything specific that you would like me to say to them?" (reply Sullivan) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Observation Lounge - aCO - Lt Cmdr T'Larah Sullivan - 2049.5) He turned and looked at her and gave her a single nod. "Very well Commander. I am ready. Is there anything specific that you would like me to say to them?" "Given your vessel's destruction, I thought it be better if you informed your comrades that your crew survived. Also to pass along their status," she handed him a PADD with the medical triage report. "We will return you and your crew to Irlix, while we pick up the remainder of ours left on the planet, including the remaining crew from the Bohrs. We can then if you wish dispatch engineering crews to your vessels to aid in their recovery." (Reply Flt Cmdr Frazil) "Very well." T'Larah said. "Open a channel to the Irlixian fleet." she ordered the computer. The hail was answered the screen's dark visage was replaced by the head and shoulders of an Irlixian male. The two had a discussion of the status of the vessels of the fleet, when they expected the ships to be moving again. Then Frazil turned to T'Larah and asked a question. (Reply Flt Cmdr Frazil) "Our ETA to Irlix is 2200 hours or one hour and seven minutes." she said. (reply Flt Cmdr Frazil) The conversation was pretty normal, though it wasn't said directly, T'Larah got the impression that Frazil had at some point before his crew was rescued had relinquished command to this Irlixian. She noted it and soon the conversation was over. "Thank you for your time, you can reach the Commander by hailing the Rosenante." (Reply Flt Cmdr Frazil) The channel was closed. [Warning shields at 10%] The computer announced as another assault hit the shuttle knocking the shields back another two percent. In attempt to at least stop the firing for a moment or two Ben brought the shuttle to withing three feet of the deck and headed towards anyone who was in the open, most dove for cover but the odd one took a shot regardless before jumping to safety. A warning alarm sounded as the shields failed, Ben brought the shuttle back up to his usual flight level and decided to head towards the Medea. If they were lucky he could touch down on her hull and find some cover. Just as the shuttle straightened out he felt the familiar paralysis begin to take him and the shuttle cockpit began to fade from view. --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Bridge - COPS - Lt Tom Jackson - 2050) Thankfully, the fighting had stopped. The Rose was beginning the rescue of the crippled Irilixan cruiser. Jackson felt sorry for them ion the sense that they thought they'd be made slaves when the Federation simply wanted to save their hides. Finally facing the stark facts, the Irilixians allowed the transports to begin. At evacuation speeds the Rose could have the whole crew up in mere moments. T'Larah watched the progress on her command console. Tom Jackson had a squad of SF Marines sent to the cargo bay to serve as 'escourts' to their guests. He had also asked Sick Bay to send a Medical team to take care of any potential injuries and make sure they weren't bringing any contaminates on board. Tom's thoughts turned to the Away Teams - how were they doing? When could he bing them home? Things were building to climax for the Irilixans - He remembered what had happen when John GIll had attempted something very similar - that society had taken a lot of time and effort to get their path straightened out. "We have a dozen torpedo's but the aft launcher isn't working, there are two phaser arrays at our disposal, the batteries are showing a 50 percent charge." Ben then turned his attention to the shield emmiters to see what good news they had to show him. It wasn't the best he could hope for but it could have been worse. "The shields are functional, dorsal emmiters are showing damage but are functional." Ben stated. "I've got the directional controls back up and running, just waiting for something to control. How're you doing over there with that, Lt. (reply Boranma or Masters or the dude from the bridge) "Oh, yeah, that too..." Eian said, and jogged over to the life support console. He ducked under the panel and said, "The module needs 4-gauge input wires." Crewman Jenkins, who Rosenbauer had sent down from the Bridge, jogged over to Eian and handed him the correct wires. "Thanks," Eian said as he took the wires and began playing with the oxygen module to figure out which input was out. The series-circuit configuration on the module had all eight inputs reading negative, but with a tricorder and some conductive wire, he would easily be able to figure out what had juice flowing and what didn't. "It's Input 7!" He declared after a moment. He took out a tool to unfasten the magnetic clamps on the module and then removed Input 7's power transfer conduit. He opened the small unit and discovered the problem. The circuitry inside was completely fried. "Do we have any spare power transfer conduits for a 4-gauge input?" (reply any) He sighed. "Then we're going to have to make an adapter for the 6-gauge. I'll get started," he said, and rose from his kneeling position to make the adapter. "But our chief of security is in the next room, shouldn't we take him first?" the tech asked. "No, basic triage, a foreign object protruding into and out of the abdominal cavity is urgent surgical." she explained. "And a Star Fleet officer laying on his belly unconscious is not?" he shot back. "Look, Chance is stable right now. This Irlixian is circling the drain." she explained. "Who cares!" the tech responded, "We take care of our own. Ichijo would agree with me." the tech responded, his voice tinged with anger. "And I will, but I am a licensed physician, I can order what ever the hell I want, because I'm in charge right now Ichijo is on the planet. Now you can prep the Irlixian, or you can get the hell out of my OR." she said taking a stand. Nate slowly stepped up behind his irate medical technologist. The tech's hands were balled up into fists. "Petty Officer Morris, stand down." Nate said. "You have lost your professional detachment." "It ain't right Nate." he answered still glaring at the surgeon. "Yes it is. We did this to him. Not on purpose, but our phasers destroyed something that is now sticking out of his abdomen. It ain't right to let him die either Jim." "You won't save that alien before our own officer." Jim Morris promised as he charged the surgeon. Fortunately Nate was close enough to trip him a Morris went sprawling to the floor. This understandably angered him and Jim turned his attention to Nate. ~Good, get angry at me. You attacking me means you aren't attacking our current chief surgeon.~ Nate waited for the charge and braced for it. The impact pushed him against one of the newly vacant bio beds. "Security!" yelled the blond woman. Nate and Jim's grappling brought them outside of the operating room. Jim was caught by another set of hands that reached up and pinched his shoulder. Jim suddenly went limp, and Nate let him hit the floor. T'Larah was standing in front of him. "Mister Fuller. He pulled the blown transformer out and replaced it with the new. ~Sometimes the best place to hide something right out in the open.~ he thought with a smile. Shortly partial main power was restored and the lights came back on. Lt. Ben had no intention of destroying any ships if he could help it, so the Ensign's order of caution was unnecessary. It did, however, show that he had some regard for the lives of others and was most likely just following orders that were handed down to him. Ben could have challenged his authority, an Ensign in command was quite strange to say the least, but Ben was most comfortable were he was. "Understood." Ben replied. "All tactical responses to be defensive." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Bohrs- Bridge -SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer, Day 8 - 2110) ~Finally!~ Mike thought as he had just received the word from engineering that they were now able to get underway. "Helm, get us off the ground. Mister Soma, Once we have enough clearance raise shields and arm forward torpedo bays. I want those doors out of our way." (reply Soma) The ship lifted off smoothly, and despite the small space, the helmsman did a good job avoiding collisions as the ship rose above the throng of Irlixian military personnel. As ordered the ship's shields went up and a pair of photon torpedoes crossed the distance between the nose of the ship and the heavily reinforced doors that stood between the Bohrs and their freedom. The doors ripped away as the force of the twin explosions ripped through them. Shards of hardened metal burst outwards for the most part, but a few shards slammed into the forward shields of the small ship with dazzling effect. "Helm, get us out of here." Mike ordered The Bohrs nosed down dangerously low, but the Helmsman managed to prevent any contact with the hanger deck. There couldn't be much space between the ship and the surface and the closeness of it made Mike tighten his grip on the arm of the command chair. "We're clear sir!" the helmsman nearly shouted as the Bohrs exited the swirling smoke and debris that surrounded the jagged maw of the hanger's entry. "Get us some altitude and head for the capital city. We need to be in position to recover Lieutenant matrix and his team should they require it." "Aye sir." "Mister Soma, Be on the look out for pursuit shuttles." (reply Soma) Mike tapped his commbadge, "Bridge to engineering. Good work down there. Mister Masters you have the engineering department. "Mr. O'Neill, see if you can reach Lieutenant Matrix's team. We need to locate them for extraction." "Aye, Sir," Eian answered and went straight for the operations console. It was strange to be on the bridge of a ship that had been so battle ravaged, whose crew had been taken forcefully. His 'runaway imagination' couldn't help but see the actions the crew must have taken when they realized they were discovered. As he brought the communications systems up on his console, he could simultaneously imagine an officer sitting in his place, attempting to follow orders while disaster struck around him. He imagined attempting to launch a distress call, knowing the ship was about to be boarded, knowing that he could very well die before help even came. As he typed his fingers across the console, the dust slowly disappeared from its surface and revealed the dim lights that signified power was being routed to more essential systems. This was how it most likely looked for the officer sitting at his station during the attack. "USS Bohrs to Lieutenant Matrix. Please respond." Eian waited several moments before he shook his head and said, "Nothing, Sir." (reply Rosenbauer) "Yes, Sir. I've got a continuous message going now." --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Bohrs- Bridge -SO, Ensign Mike Rosenbauer, Day 8 - 2114) "We have incoming shuttles." Ben stated. "They are on an intercept course from the capital. Their shields and weapons are powering up, they are adopting an attack formation to block our path." Mike nodded. "Do what you can to keep them from doing too much damage to us mister Soma. Helm, be prepared for evasive maneuvers." "Aye sir." the helm answered. (reply Soma) "Anything at all yet Mister O'Neill?" (reply O'Neill) "Keep trying we can't leave this planet until we know if they are either already picked up or until we have no other choice in the matter. It would be a shame to rescue one group of federation officers only to be forced to launch a second rescue for the recovery team." (reply O'Neill, Soma) Daniel Greene --------------------------------------------------------------------- (Irlix - USS Bohrs - Bridge - ACEO Ensign Eian O'Neill - Day 8 - 2115) Minutes later, Mike checked in again. "Anything at all yet, Mr. O'Neill?" Eian sighed. "No, Sir. Not yet." "Keep trying. We can't leave this planet until we know they are either already picked up or until we have no other choice in the matter. It woudl be a shame to rescue one group of Federation officers only to be forced to launch a second rescue for the recovery team." "Agreed, Sir," Eian said. He stared at the readouts on his console, frustrated that there wasn't even a nibble. (reply iyw) (posted by Morgan G) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Bohrs- Bridge -ATAC/SEC Lt. jg Ben Soma- 2116) Mike nodded. "Do what you can to keep them from doing too much damage to us mister Soma. Helm, be prepared for evasive maneuvers." "Aye sir." the helm answered. "I'll do what I can." Ben answered. " The Ensign asked O'Neil for an update and told him to keep trying. Ben formulated an attack plan and sent it to the helm. "Helm I'm sending an attack strategy to you now, try and stick with it as much as possible." Ben stated. With their limited armaments they would have to go on the offensive quickly in order to gain the upper hand. The shuttles closed in on their position and Ben fired the Bohrsphasers in an attempt to disable their forward defenses, several quick hits on both vessels showed that their shields were holding and moderate damage was recorded on their weapons systems. They returned in kind and the Bohrs shook under the assault, shields held and the weapons systems didn't take any damage. The shuttles were apparently attempting to disable the engines to force the Bohrs back to the surface. "Attack pattern theta." Ben stated as he targeted the weapons systems of the assault shuttles again. As the Bohrs came about Ben opened fire again, this time he managed a good hit on the lead shuttle. It's weapon systems took considerable damage as well as a couple other systems, a stream of smoke could be seen trailing the shuttle as it broke off it's attack leaving only one shuttle to deal with. ~The odds are in our favour now~ Ben's console beeped a warning, the shuttle was apparently armed with some type of photonic devices which was now locked on the Bohrs. "Evasive manuvers." Ben ordered. "They've looked on to us with a photonic device." The shuttle fired it's warhead as the Bohrs dove out of it's path. Ben targeted the shuttle again and fired as the Bohrs recovered from the evasive action, two impacts and Ben noted that the shuttles launchers had been damaged. No more threat of photonic devices. The Bohrs rocked again as the assault shuttle fired back, Ben noted the shields were holding but wouldn't stay that way under the circumstances. Ben scanned the shuttle and targeted the systems he wanted to disable. "Attack pattern alpha." He said. When the pilot had begun the manuver Ben began his assault, several impacts and the shuttles shields flared and quickly blinked out. Another shot and the second shuttle broke off it's attack realizing they no longer had anything left to fire. For now the Bohrs could continue unhindered. Ben glanced over his console and made his report. "Shields holding at sixty five percent, phaser batteries at forty percent charge." He said as the information scrolled across his screen. "Aft shield emitterhas been damaged but is still functional. Looks like we're in the clear for now." The doctor placed a sleeve around the arm of one of the Bohrs crewmembers and thumbed a tab on the sleeve The doctor shook her head, bemused as she watched the splint swell and harden. "I'll be able to do a little bit more once I can get to the Rose and get proper supplies" Kimiko stated to the hapless crew member The ship jogged violently to the left and the ensign grabbed hold of the bed to keep from being thrown to the floor. “I guess we made contact” Kimiko stated “Dr Lopez, I need to initiate emergency protocol, I would like you to direct all injured nonessential personal, after their treatment, to their evacuation route and expedite treatment, we may have need for beds.” (Reply Lopez) “Computer, activate EMH” Kimiko called out A white-haired man with wire-framed glasses appeared in the middle of the room. “So, how can I help you, today?” the EMH asked “How many medkits remain onboard?” she asked The doctor looked slightly affronted. “Seven” he replied flatly. “Would it be possible for you to retrieve them for me, please?” The ensign asked. A look of distaste flashed across his face. “I was not created to be a quartermaster or a deck hand. My function is as medical treatment process and thus am capable of treating 739 different lifeforms with ailments ranging from a splinter to Lyisian Fire plague, do you really think that this is the best use of my talents?” Kimiko applied skin glue to a laceration “ummm….yes?” she replied The EMH disappeared and a moment later seven boxes appeared on a counter. ~at least he didn’t slam the door~ she thought “Computer, activate EMH” Kimiko stated again The doctor appeared again and gave her a frosty look “Please state the nature of your medical emergency.” Kimiko was taken aback "Would you, please assist us with overflow?" The EMH turned on his heel, walked to the nearest causality, and began treatment Kimiko looked up at the crewmen watching the spectacle and asked. “Did he just sniff at me?” (Reply Lopez) (Posted by Jack) --------------------------------------------------------------------- (USS Rosenante - Engineering - PO3 Hank Stevens- Day 8 2158) Hank Stevens shook his head and swore again. The grid system for the shield emitters were in a bad way – the repeated hits by the Irlixans had severely weakened the shields. The stench of friend circuits was everywhere. The battle seemed to have stopped and this pause allowed the damage control teams to see the extent of the Rose’s damage. This, Hank knew, was a type of shielding was not laid over a starship in the shape of a bubble; the energy fields are layered parallel to the hull in between the shields and the ship itself. Advances in shield technology had allowed the newer ships of the lin to combine this with ablative shields. Adding ablative shields to the Rose’s compliment allowed them to better withstand repeated assaults and to fend off tractor beam attachments. The down side to these pluses was the fact the system was more complicated and more items that could be damaged. The bridge staff had ordered priority repairs to the shields, weapons and propulsion systems. Hank worked his way slowly through the emitter system junctions. As he fixed something, more broken items were found. Soon the engineering duty officer would be calling for a status update. He hoped Lt Matrix would soon be back. The older enlisted man liked the Engineering Officer. He had not thought much of the battle except to know it was brief as well as violent. He also wondered how his girlfriend, Emily Graatz, was doing over in OPS. They had not had a chance to touch base. Hank liked Emily a lot. Her boss, LT Jackson was a stickler and keep his team hopping. But Jackson had let Emily sit a few bridge watches. So maybe Jackson wasn't such a jerk after all. Hank smiled and went back to work on the circuits.
